This grainy 1996 polaroid shows Jennifer as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Moldova, wearing a traditional outfit gifted to her by her school teacher friends. These friends form the core of the Lapușna planning team for the village experience featured in this trip.
Walnut Path Travel was founded by Jennifer Arndt Robinson, drawing on a lifelong love of travel and a belief that the most meaningful experiences come from connecting more deeply with a place and the people who call it home.
Over the years, her travels have been shaped by a preference for slower, more immersive experiences - from planning detailed itineraries to exploring regions on foot through inn to inn hiking journeys.
This approach is also rooted in a long-standing connection to Moldova, where she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 1990s. Living and teaching in the rural village of Lapușna created lasting friendships and a deep appreciation for the country’s culture, resilience, and hospitality.
Today, Walnut Path Travel brings these influences together in small-group journeys designed around connection, curiosity, and a more grounded way of traveling.
Walnut Path Travel is committed to responsible, respectful travel. We work with local guides and partners, pay fair rates to hosts and collaborators, and design experiences that support communities rather than disrupt them.
Why Walnut Path?
Walnut trees are woven deeply into everyday life in Moldova. They line village roads, shade family courtyards, and appear regularly in home cooking and seasonal traditions. In Moldovan culture, walnut trees are often associated with continuity and family roots. They are planted for future generations and valued not only for what they provide, but for the sense of permanence and connection they represent over time. The walnut also feels like a natural symbol for this style of travel: rooted in relationships, connected to local traditions, and shaped by time spent getting to know a place through the people who live there.
